[how to tackle the problem?  first, dig up old Edna's writing, bones,
spirit, or whatever makes your fingers tingle.  Then, consider the
ambience (this won't help, but ambience is such a nice all around kind
of word I thought I'd toss it in just for the smell of it).  Finally,
write, write, write...]
