Common Pleco

(Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus)

Labidochromis caeruleus

This is Rex, Sea Lion, King of the Cucumber Jungle. He's an 8" common pleco. This fish has shared environments with goldfish, oscars, angels and now africans. He's extremely aggressive and managed to kill off two other plecos before I realized that they don't like to live together. Ooops.

It's stupid pleco tricks! Can your pleco do this?

Rex is actually very silly. He doesn't seem to care what angle he is at, or what fish are in his path, or just about anything else. He just pushes through, nosing whatever it is out of the way. He can get quite pissed though, especially by other plecos and by people moving his stuff. Oh, and everything in the tank is his stuff... he just permits the other fish to live there because he's too lazy to drive them out.

Here is a view from the rear, showing off his awesome dorsal fin. Plecos really have a a neat shape.
