Soulknife Blade Skills

Absorbing Blade: If a spell (or power, or similar ability) misses the souknife by the value of (and due to) the deflection bonus granted by her deflecting blade class ability, or she succeeds on a Reflex save versus an area effect that has an origin point, a soulknife may absorb some of the spell's power. For each spell level (or power level, etc.), she may either recharge a power point or charge her psychic strike (if she has one) by 1d8. She may not absorb power points or psychic strike dice that would put her over her maximum, and any excess is dissipated. If the soulknife's mind blade has the defending special ability, the AC bonus resulting from it is added to her deflection bonus when determining whether an ability is eligible for absorbtion. She must have an active mind blade or the mental block blade skill in order to benefit from this blade skill.

Action Master: The soulknife gains an additional action point each time her action points are refreshed. In addition, when she spends an action point to influence an attack roll made with her mind blade, she may spend a power point to add the result of the action point roll to her damage for that attack. She may choose to spend the power point after the result of the attack roll is determined.

Additional Configuration: The soulknife gains the ability to have a separate configuration for her mind blade's enhancement bonus and special abilities. When she forms her mind blade, the soulknife may choose either configuration. Creating this extra configuration functions just as reassigning the enhancement of her mind blade, typically 1 hour of concentration. When the soulknife reassigns her mind blade configuration, she may reassign any or all configurations she possesses. If she chooses to manifest multiple blades, she may select which configuration each blade uses when she forms it. The soulknife must be at least 6th level in order to select this blade skill, and this blade skill may be selected multiple times.

Alter Blade: The soulknife gains the ability to shape her mind blade quickly into different weapon forms. She may choose her blade's form (and may select piercing or slashing damage) any time she forms her mind blade. When forming her mind blade into multiple items, she may choose any combination of individual forms which she can wield one-handed, or she may fuse said combination into a double weapon. A double weapon mind blade has a range increment of 0 feet.

Attenuated Blade: The soulknife's mind blade ends in a needle-like point. Increase its base critical threat range by 1 (if her blade normally threatens on 19-20, it now threatens on 18-20, etc.). When she forms her mind blade into any of its basic forms (light, one-handed, or two-handed), she no longer needs to choose between piercing or slashing damage, and may choose to do either type of damage whenever she attacks with it.

Balanced Blades: The soulknife gains Double Slice as a bonus feat, even if she doesn't meet the prerequisites. In addition, when forming her mind blade into multiple items or a double weapon, she suffers no reduction in enhancement bonus. When using Power Attack (or similar feats, like Piranha Strike) and making an off-hand attack, she may add the full damage bonus from the feat instead of half.

Blade Rush: The soulknife gains Mobility as a bonus feat, even if she doesn't meet the prerequisites. As a swift action, she may expend her psionic focus and move up to her speed without provoking attacks of opportunity. A soulknife must be at least 6th level in order to select this blade skill.

Blade Rush Frenzy: The soulknife gains Spring Attack as a bonus feat, even if she doesn't meet the prerequisites. As a full-round action, she may expend her psionic focus to move up to her speed without provoking attacks of opportunity and make a single melee attack against each creature she is adjacent to at any point in her movement. Each attack is made at her highest base attack bonus with a –2 penalty on the attack roll. A soulknife must be at least 8th level and possess the Blade Rush blade skill in order to select this blade skill.

Bladestorm: As a full attack, when wielding her mind arrow, the soulknife can expend her psionic focus to fire one mind arrow at her full base attack bonus at each opponent within 60 feet. Regardless of the number of attacks she makes, she only provokes attacks of opportunity as though she made a single ranged attack. The soulknife must possess the Soulbow and Rapid Activation blade skills and be at least 16th level to select this blade skill.

Bladewind: As a full attack, when wielding her mind blade, a soulknife can expend her psionic focus to make one melee attack at her full base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. If an attack misses, the soulknife can choose to expend her psychic strike (if she has one) to reroll that attack, but none of the bladewind attacks deal any extra damage from psychic strike. When using bladewind, a soulknife forfeits any bonus or extra attacks granted by other feats or abilities (such as Cleave or haste). A soulknife must be at least 8th level to select this blade skill.

Charged Shot: As a standard action, the soulknife can make a single ranged attack with her mind arrow. If the attack is successful, the mind arrow bursts with psionic energy upon impact, dealing normal damage (including enhancement bonus and special abilities) to the creature struck and its base weapon damage plus its enhancement bonus to all other creatures within a 5-ft. radius. A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 soulknife level + Wisdom modifier) halves the damage taken by the adjacent creatures. A soulknife must be able to form a mind arrow in order to select this blade skill.

Close-Range Expert: When making ranged attacks with her mind arrow, a soulknife does not provoke attacks of opportunity as long as she maintains psionic focus. A soulknife must be able to form a mind arrow in order to select this blade skill.

Combat Slide: Upon successfully striking an enemy in melee, the soulknife may immediately make a 5-foot step (even if she's already moved in the round, but not if she's taken a 5-foot step). In addition, when someone misses the soulknife with a melee attack, she may spend an immediate action to take a 5-foot step.

Covert Skills: The soulknife selects a trick from the ninja trick list. She can choose but cannot use talents that require ki points unless she has a ki pool, and saving throws are based on the soulknife's Wisdom modifier instead of Charisma. This blade skill may be selected multiple times.

Deadly Blade: The soulknife's mind blade critical multiplier increases by 1, and it gains a +1 bonus on damage rolls. A soulknife must be at least 9th level to select this blade skill.

Deceptive Blade: When the soulknife feints in combat, she may also form her mind blade in the same action as the feint. Additionally, Bluff is now a class skill for the soulknife. If the soulknife has the Improved Feint feat and the psychic strike class feature, once per round she may also charge her psychic strike when performing a feint and forming her mind blade in the same action. This blade skill may not be used with the mind arrow.

Double the Pleasure: The soulknife gains the Combat Reflexes feat, even if she doesn't meet the prerequisites. When wielding multiple mind blades or a double weapon mind blade, if she is psionically focused, she may choose to use her Wisdom bonus instead of Dexterity to determine the number of additional attacks of opportunity she may make. In addition, the penalty for fighting with two weapons is reduced by 1 (to a minimum of 0).

Double the Fun: When wielding multiple mind blades or a double weapon mind blade, the soulknife gains the benefits of the Hammer the Gap feat, even if she doesn't meet the prerequisites. In addition, the penalty for fighting with two weapons is further reduced by 1 (to a minimum of 0). She must be at least 6th level and have the Double the Pleasure blade skill in order to select this blade skill.

Dual Imbue: When utilizing multiple mind blades or a double weapon mind blade, the soulknife may charge both blades (or ends) with her psychic strike ability at the same time, including when expending her focus to charge her psychic strike. However, her psychic strike damage is reduced by 1d8 when using this option. Damage remains normal when each weapon is charged separately. A soulknife must be able to charge a psychic strike in order to select this blade skill.

Enhanced Range: The soulknife's range increment when throwing her mind blade in any form increases: mind daggers gain +30 feet, light weapon mind blades gain +20 feet, one-handed weapon mind blades gain +15 feet, and two-handed weapon and double weapon mind blades gain +10 feet. She may select this blade skill multiple times.

Exploding Critical: When a soulknife confirms a critical hit, she can expend her psionic focus to deal her psychic strike damage, even if her mind blade was not charged with psychic strike, and even if she has already dealt psychic strike on the attack. A soulknife must have the ability to charge a psychic strike and be at least 12th level to select this blade skill.

Fluid Form: The soulknife may expend her psionic focus as a swift action to make a minor modification to her mind blade. She may remove up to one weapon special ability (if any) from her mind blade's configuration, and add the ability's value to the mind blade's enhancement bonus. She may also add up to one weapon special ability to her mind blade's configuration, and subtract the ability's value from the mind blade's enhancement bonus. Once she has made either or both of these changes, the mind blade suffers a -1 penalty to its enhancement bonus. This penalty is cumulative with each time this blade skill is used, and lasts until the soulknife rests for 8 hours or spends 1 hour in concentration to reconfigure her mind blade. This blade skill may not be used if this would reduce the mind blade's enhancement bonus below +1. If the final enhancement bonus would be above the soulknife's maximum, the total enhancement bonus is reduced to match.

Fluid Form, Improved: When the soulknife uses the Fluid Form blade skill, she may change all of her mind blade's weapon special abilities simultaneously. The mind blade still suffers a cumulative -1 penalty to its enhancement bonus when the Fluid Form blade skill is used. A soulknife must have the Fluid Form blade skill to select this blade skill.

Focused Defense: When fighting defensively, using Combat Expertise, or the total defense action, the deflection bonus granted by the soulknife's deflecting blade class ability is doubled.

Focused Offense: As long as the soulknife maintains psionic focus, she adds her Wisdom modifier to her attack and damage rolls instead of her Strength modifier when attacking with her mind blade.

Furious Charge: The soulknife deals an additional 2 points of damage on every attack made at the end of a charge. The increased damage is only 1 per attack for off-hand attacks, but becomes 3 per attack when wielding her mind blade two-handed.

Furious Charge, Improved: A soulknife with this ability can expend her psionic focus while making a charge to make an additional attack with her main hand, albeit at a -5 penalty on the attack roll, at the end of a charge action. If the soulknife is wielding two mind blades and has the Twin Strike blade skill, she may instead make an additional attack with each mind blade, but each of these additional attacks suffers a -5 penalty on the attack roll in addition to the penalties for attacking with two weapons. The soulknife may only gain the benefit of this blade skill once on any charge. The soulknife must have the Furious Charge blade skill and be at least 12th level to select this blade skill.

Gruesome Riposte: The soulknife may expend her psionic focus as an immediate action to attack an enemy who has successfully struck her in melee. This attack is assumed to happen after the successful attack, so she cannot use this ability if the attack would put her below 0 hit points, nor does dropping her enemy below 0 hit points prevent the attack from hitting. A soulknife must be at least 10th level to select this blade skill.

Improved Enhancement: The bonus granted by the soulknife's enhanced mind blade class feature increases by 1. In addition, her mind blade counts as deep crystal for the purpose of feats, class features, and the ability to channel psionic power through it. A soulknife must be at least 10th level to select this blade skill.

Light Blade Mastery: The soulknife gains Weapon Finesse and Deadly Agility as bonus feats. Whenever she makes a melee attack with a form of her mind blade that she can wield in one hand, she may add her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to both the attack and damage rolls. If any effect would normally prevent her from adding her Strength modifier to the damage roll, she does not add her Dexterity modifier.

Mental Block: The soulknife gains Dodge as a bonus feat. She may apply the deflection bonus granted by her deflecting blade class ability even when she is not wielding a mind blade.

Mental Power: The soulknife gains the Extra Power Known feat. In addition, she gains one additional psionic talent known. Both may be rotated out as normal when she meditates to regain her power points each day. She may select this blade skill multiple times.

Metaphysical Knowledge: The soulknife adds two powers to her soulknife power list. They may be chosen from any power list. She may choose powers of a higher level than she can manifest, but they won't be available to select as one of her daily powers known until she can manifest them. This blade skill can be selected multiple times.

Mind Daggers: The soulknife may optionally form one or a pair of mind daggers in place of her normal forms. Mind daggers have a range increment of 30 feet when thrown and deal 1d4 points of damage (piercing or slashing). As a standard action, she may expend her psionic focus to throw both daggers at the same opponent. She makes an attack roll for each dagger, to which she applies her normal penalties for two-weapon fighting, and may apply her full Strength bonus to the damage rolls for each dagger.

Multiblade Manifestation: A soulknife who possesses this blade skill is capable of splitting her mind blade further than others of her kind due to having more than two limbs capable of wielding a weapon. Limbs capable of wielding mind blades after the first two can be armed with light weapon versions of her mind blade; just as when using shape mind blade to create multiple mind blades, the enhancement bonus is reduced by one for these blades as well. The soulknife must be 6th level to select this blade skill and must possess three or more hands (or their equivalent) to select this blade skill.

Power Reserve: The soulknife’s innate psionic essence is stronger than others of her kind, growing more powerful as she advances in level. The power points granted by the Unlocked Talent feat that the soulknife receives at 1st level increase by two points per soulknife level above 1st. These points may be used to manifest powers and support other abilities that require use of a power point pool. The soulknife does not gain additional bonus power points for having a high ability score from this ability, and this blade skill may only be selected once.

Powerful Strikes: The soulknife’s psychic strike deals an additional 1d8 damage. A soulknife must be able to charge a psychic strike in order to select this blade skill. This blade skill may be selected multiple times, but the number of dice of damage a soulknife's psychic strike does may not exceed one half her soulknife level.

Psicrystal Bond: The soulknife gains the Psicrystal Affinity feat and all levels of soulknife count as manifester levels for feats relating to her psicrystal. In addition, she can take any feat that requires Psicrystal Affinity as a blade skill.

Psionic Training: The soulknife gains a psionic, metapsionic, or psionic item creation feat instead of selecting a blade skill. She must meet all prerequisites of the psionic feat selected. She may not select the feat Extra Blade Skill with this blade skill. This blade skill may be selected multiple times.

Psychic Strike: The soulknife gains the psychic strike class feature. When learned, this skill allows the soulknife to add an additional 1d8 points of damage to an attack with her mind blade, as per the psychic strike class feature. This may be improved by the Powerful Strikes blade skill. The soulknife must not previously possess the psychic strike class feature to select this blade skill. The soulknife must be at least 3rd level to select this blade skill.

Psychokinetic Blast: The soulknife's psychic strike explodes out from her target into a sudden burst of psychokinetic energy. When making an attack, the soulknife may expend her psychic strike to deal her psychic strike damage to her target as well as all creatures adjacent to the target (excluding the soulknife). A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 soulknife level + Wis modifier) halves the damage for creatures adjacent to the target. A soulknife must be able to charge a psychic strike and be at least 4th level to select this blade skill.

Rain of Arrows: As a standard action, a soulknife may fire off her mind arrow and deal damage to all creatures within a 10 ft. cube within one range increment. A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 soulknife level + Wis modifier) halves the damage. A soulknife must have the Rapid Activation blade skill and be able to form a mind arrow in order to select this blade skill.

Rapid Activation: The soulknife gains Quick Draw as a bonus feet. She can now manifest her mind blade as a free action, and may expend her psionic focus to instead manifest her mind blade as an immediate action. She can throw a number of mind blades per round equal to the number of melee attacks she could make. If she has the ability to form a mind arrow, she may form multiple bolts rapidly enough make use of all iterative attacks available, or multiple attacks such as those gained from Rapid Shot, Multishot or similar feats.

Instant Activation: The soulknife gains Improved Quick Draw as a bonus feet. She is considered to be threatening all squares within reach of her mind blade even if it is not active, and can manifest it for free (without expending her psionic focus) when making an attack of opportunity. If she is maintaining her psionic focus, she may manifest her mind blade as an immediate action. A soulknife must be at least 6th level and have the Rapid Activation blade skill in order to select this blade skill.

Reaper's Blade: A soulknife with this ability automatically recharges her psychic strike ability if she reduces an enemy’s hit points to below 0 with a melee attack using her mind blade. If her blade was already charged, her next psychic strike deals 1.5 times the damage rolled. A soulknife must be at least 10th level to select this blade skill.

Reflective Blade: If a projectile misses the souknife by the value of (and due to) the deflection bonus granted by her deflecting blade class ability, a soulknife may expend her psionic focus and make an attack of opportunity to reflect it back at her attacker or to any other target to whom she has line of effect. If the soulknife's mind blade has the defending special ability, the AC bonus applied is added to her deflection bonus when determining whether a projectile is eligible for reflection. She must spend 1 power point each time she reflects a projectile.

She makes a ranged attack (or ranged touch attack if appropriate) roll using her full BAB, applying any penalties due to range or the projectile itself, as if the attack had originated from her. If she is still psionically focused (through feats or other abilities), she may apply her Wisdom modifier instead of Dexterity. If she has the ability to make multiple attacks of opportunity per round, she may continue to reflect attacks; each subsequent attempt this round counts as an attack of opportunity, but doesn't require additional psionic focus expenditures.

Reflective Blade, Greater: The soulknife may reflect spells, powers, and similar abilities that require a ranged attack in addition to projectiles. She must spend 1 power point per level of the reflected ability, and must abide by range limits as if it had originated from her. She may not spend more power points in a single reflection than the bonus provided by her Endhanced Mind Blade ability. She may continue to reflect attacks, as with projectiles; each subsequent reflection (including projectiles) takes a -2 penalty on its attack roll for each prior spell, power, or ability reflected. An ability which lasts more than one round occupies the soulknife's attention until its effects end; treat the soulknife as if she were concentrating on maintaining it herself. The soulknife must have the Reflective Blade blade skill in order to select this blade skill.

Soulbow: When she forms her mind blade, instead of any of her normal mind blade forms, the soulknife may form a single mind arrow. This mind arrow appears inside of or enveloping the soulbolt’s hand, and is treated as an additional configuration of her mind blade's enhancement bonus and special abilities. The bolt is identical in all ways (except visually) to an arrow shot from a composite longbow of a size appropriate to the soulknife. The soulknife adds her Wisdom modifier to the damage for attacks made with mind arrows instead of her Strength modifier. The mind arrow receives all the benefits normally applied to the mind blade, including any enhancement bonus or weapon special abilities, or feats that apply to the mind blade, although any melee-specific options are non-functional while in mind arrow form (and vice versa). Feats that apply to ranged attacks, such as Point-Blank Shot, apply to the mind arrow.

Spinning Throw: As a standard action, the soulknife may throw the double-weapon form of her mindblade at a single opponent, with a range increment of 20 feet. She makes an attack roll for each end of the mind blade, to which she applies her normal penalties for two-weapon fighting. If she expends her psionic focus as part of the attack, she may apply 1-1/2 times her Strength bonus to the damage rolls for each attack, otherwise she applies half of her Strength bonus to each. She must have the Alter Blade blade skill and be at least 8th level to select this blade skill.

Telekinetic Athleticism: The psionic energies of the soulknife’s mind permeate her body, greatly enhancing her athletic prowess. She gains the benefits of the Mental Leap and Speed of Thought psionic feats while she maintains her psionic focus.

Telekinetic Edge: The soulknife’s mind blade can be honed to such a sharp edge that it can pass through a foe’s defenses and strike at the softer and more vital bits inside. The soulknife may expend her psionic focus as a free action to ignore a target’s damage reduction or an object’s hardness until her next turn instead of inflicting additional damage. The soulknife must be at least 4th level to select this blade skill.

Telepathic Gift: The psychic potential within the soulknife opens up telepathic pathways in her mind, allowing her to reach out and connect to the minds of others. She gains the ability to speak with and/or understand any intelligent creature in any language they know, similar to the natural linguist power. Additionally, as long as she maintains psionic focus, she gains a +2 circumstance bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive checks.

Trade Blows: When the soulknife uses the total defense action, she may make a single melee attack at her full base attack bonus against anyone that makes a melee attack against her, regardless of whether the opponent's attack hits. This attack is resolved immediately after the opponent's attack. The soulknife may make may make a number of such attacks per round equal to her Wisdom bonus. If multiple opponents attack the soulknife, each attack she makes must be against the enemy that triggered it. All such attacks are made with a -4 penalty on the attack roll, and are an exception to the rule that you cannot attack during the total defense action. A soulknife must be at least 10th level to select this blade skill.

Twin Strike: As a standard action while wielding two mind blades, the soulknife may make a single attack with each of her mind blades at her normal penalties for two-weapon fighting. If she has the ability to flurry with her mind blade, she may instead perform a flurry using two of the attacks at her highest base attack bonus (she is not required to be weilding two mind blades if she chooses this option). She may also utilize this ability when making attacks of opportunity, but not for any other special attacks, such as those granted by the Blade Rush Frenzy blade skill, unless specifically stated otherwise. The soulknife must be at least 8th level to select this blade skill.

Master Strike: When using the Twin Strike blade skill, the soulknife may use all of the attacks at her highest base attack bonus (but only those at her highest BAB). This includes extra attacks granted by haste, a weapon with the speed property, the Flurry of Blades class ability, or similar. The soulknife must be at least 12th level and possess the Twin Strike blade skill to select this blade skill.

Vampiric Blade: When the soulknife expends her psychic strike ability on an attack against a living, corporeal creature she may choose to inflict only 1/2 her psychic strike damage and heal an equal amount of hit points. The soulknife must be able to charge a psychic strike in order to select this blade skill.

Vampiric Blade, Improved: When the soulknife benefits from Vampiric Blade, she may also cure herself of one adverse condition in addition to the normal healing. Choose one from among the following: blinded, confused, dazzled, deafened, diseased, exhausted, fatigued, feebleminded, insanity, poisoned, sickened, or 1 point of ability damage (not drain). The soulknife must possess the Vampiric Blade blade skill and be able to charge a psychic strike in order to select this blade skill.
