I am a PhD candidate in Operations
Research at the Sloan School of Management at MIT. I am also affiliated with the Laboratory for
Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) within the Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science department. I work with Prof. Daron
Acemoglu and Prof. Asu
Ozdaglar.
Prior to that,
I obtained an MS degree in Computer Science from UCSD
and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the National
Technical University of Athens, Greece (NTUA).
Much of my current research efforts are focused on studying the role
of communication among individuals, that live in a social network, as a
means to spread information and influence the undertaking of subsequent
actions. The main aim of this research agenda is to contribute to the
theoretical development of the economics of complex social networks and
identify the implications for individuals and businesses.
Complementing the theoretical work, I am also interested in
empirically quantifying the importance of social networks and their
effect on individual decisions and on firms' strategic planning, using
data sets from online social networking communities.
