Journal for 2003 November 23
We have been told our hole lives that the time of revolution is over. The 60's were a time of change, and the most we can do is make trudging progress, or more likely, watch the slow backslide. The 60's certainly was a time of change, but the times now continue to show change, at an amazing rate. What if, as _The Fourth Turning_ suggests, the 60's were a time of awakening, and the time of revolution is still to come? The crisis is approaching, and we will see great changes happening now, in the prime of our lives, and we can be part of those changes. The 60's was a time of division: culture and counterculture. Such are the conditions for change, but only in a limit way. The great changes happen when difference becomes primarily a thing of the outside, and with mainly just reflections to fight in the culture itself.

Finally on vacation! Such as it is-- I plan on still going into Olin a few days next week, and Claudia will be leaving me Wednesday. My pile of things to grade is large but finite. My community events page is making progress with something for the suite of pages for creating and modifying information for the database.
