introduction

hi! my name is joonho ko. i'm a member of the class of 2020 majoring in computer science (6-3) and minoring in linguistics (24-2). i lived in 5w, east campus my freshman year. this year i'll be living in 2east at next house. some of the things i like to do include math, teaching, video games, and learning new languages. (i'm currently learning chinese and japanese.) at mit, i'm a tour guide, admissions blogger, and a member of the mit-wellesley toons, the best (and only... haha) cross-campus acapella group on campus.

  • urop - spring/summer 2017

    • did a research project with dr. stefanie-shattuck hufnagel and the MIT RLE involving the rhythm of speech, more specifically determining the p-centers in prosodic speech. a talk featuring our work was presented in the 2018 new england sequencing and timing (NEST) conference.

teaching

  • intro to linguistics - summer hssp 2017

    • i taught a class on introductory linguistics to middle-schoolers and high-schoolers at mit, delving into topics such as morphology, syntax, phonology, and semantics.

  • bc calculus reference-textbook

    • i wrote a 'short' textbook on the ab/bc calculus curriculum, intended to be used more like a reference for those that needed a refresher or a study guide. here it is!
