Chapter 70.  TRAFFIC

DIVISION 3.  SPEED REGULATIONS

Sec. 70-201. Speed limits established.

In accordance with the provisions of M.G.L.A. c. 90, § 18, as amended, the following speed limits are established at which motor vehicles may be operated in the areas described:

Eastern Avenue--Northbound.

Beginning at Martine Street, thence northerly on Eastern Avenue:

(1) 0.53 mile at 30 miles per hour;

(2) 0.60 mile at 35 miles per hour;

ending at Bedford Street, the total distance being 1.13 miles.

Eastern Avenue--Southbound.

Beginning at Bedford Street, thence southerly on Eastern Avenue:

(1) 0.60 mile at 35 miles per hour;

(2) 0.53 mile at 30 miles per hour;

ending at Martine Street, the total distance being 1.13 miles.

Elsbree Street--Northbound.

Beginning at President Avenue, thence northerly on Elsbree Street:

(1) 0.27 mile at 30 miles per hour;

(2) 0.57 mile at 35 miles per hour;

(3) 0.05 mile at 20 miles per hour;

ending at Valentine Street, the total distance being 0.89 mile.

Elsbree Street--Southbound.

Beginning at Valentine Street, thence southerly on Elsbree Street:

(1) 0.62 mile at 35 miles per hour;

(2) 0.27 mile at 30 miles per hour;

ending at President Avenue, the total distance being 0.89 mile.

Highland Avenue--Northbound.

Beginning at Robeson Street, thence northerly on Highland Avenue:

(1) 0.50 mile at 35 miles per hour;

(2) 0.35 mile at 40 miles per hour;

ending at Wilson Road, the total distance being 0.85 mile.

Highland Avenue--Southbound.

Beginning at Wilson Road, thence southerly on Highland Avenue:

(1) 0.35 mile at 40 miles per hour;

(2) 0.50 mile at 35 miles per hour;

ending at Robeson Street, the total distance being 0.85 mile.

Langley Street--Eastbound.

Beginning at Robeson Street, thence easterly on Langley Street:

(1) 0.40 mile at 30 miles per hour;

(2) 0.26 mile at 35 miles per hour;

ending at Elsbree Street, the total distance being 0.66 mile.

Langley Street--Westbound.

Beginning at Elsbree Street, thence westerly on Langley Street:

(1) 0.26 mile at 35 miles per hour;

(2) 0.40 mile at 30 miles per hour;

ending at Robeson Street, the total distance being 0.66 mile.

North Eastern Avenue--Northbound.

Beginning at Bedford Street, thence northerly on North Eastern Avenue:

(1) 0.88 mile at 40 miles per hour;

(2) 0.12 mile at 25 miles per hour;

ending at the beginning of a state highway, the total distance being one mile.

North Eastern Avenue--Southbound.

Beginning at the end of a state highway, thence southerly on North Eastern Avenue:

(1) 0.90 mile at 40 miles per hour;

(2) 0.10 mile at 35 miles per hour;

ending at Bedford Street, the total distance being one mile.

Valentine Street--Eastbound.

Beginning at Robeson Street, thence easterly on Valentine Street:

(1) 0.54 mile at 25 miles per hour;

(2) 0.05 mile at 20 miles per hour;

ending at Elsbree Street, the total distance being 0.59 mile.

Valentine Street--Westbound.

Beginning at Elsbree Street, thence westerly on Valentine Street: 0.59 mile at 25 miles per hour, ending at Robeson Street, the total distance being 0.59 mile.

Sec. 70-202. Exceeding speed limits.

Operation of a motor vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of the specific speed limits established by this division shall be prima facie evidence that such speed is greater than is reasonable and proper.

Sec. 70-203. Applicability of state law.

The provisions of this division shall not abrogate in any sense the provisions of M.G.L.A. c. 90, § 14.
