In the MII-AI Lab, we are studying how to create computing systems that interact effectively with other intelligent entities to perform important tasks. This research emphasizes two related research areas:
  • Learn about how we can create AI that interacts with and learns from the end user. We envision artificial entities that end users can customize to do stuff that was not previously envisioned by the designer of the AI.

  • Learn about how we can create artificial agents that effectively associate with other intelligent entities (including people) over extended interactions. These artificial agents should be able to adapt in order to become more successful over time.
Potential application areas include (among others) new-age power grids, remote sensing applications, transportation systems, and assistive robotics (including autism therapy).
