Condensed from postings on rec.backcountry: CRAP: Cholcolate, Raisins, Almonds, Peanuts. GNURDS: Goodies Nibbled Under Really Dire Situations, e.g., the last remnants of anything edible buried deep in the recesses of pack and pockets... the lint adds fiber ;) MREs could probably be considered GNURDS in some circumstances. The despised magazine _Outside_ ran an article about a climber who borrowed a friend's pickup truck in Alaska. The friend was a dog sledder and one of his favorite dogs had just died; he'd had the dog cremated and left a baggy with the ashes in the truck. When the climber brought the truck back, he said, "Thanks for the truck, but that gorp you left on the front seat tasted like shit..." Supposedly a true story... -- Frank reid@indiana.edu NSS 9086
