We have two cats. If you are allergic, don't forget your antihistimines.
Find your way to Rte. 1A North. You can do this by any of the following routes:
Each of the above paths will bring you to Bell's Circle, a confusing intersection where Rtes. 1A, 16, and 60 come together. The intersection is a rotary with a divided highway through the middle of it, and traffic lights everywhere. You want to go around the outside of the rotary (don't go through the middle) and follow the big green sign for Rte. 1A North Revere Beach/Lynn. (If you're coming via Rte. 60, getting into the rotary may take you by surprise. The entrance to the rotary is right at the end of a 3-story-high rock wall, about a mile after the Rte. 107 rotary. Note that there are no signs from Rte. 60 for Rte. 1A North until you're already in the rotary.)
Follow Rte. 1A, past Wonderland (dog track, ballroom, and blue line station), and over the drawbridge into Lynn. You can see Nahant to your right as you cross the bridge.
After you've crossed the drawbridge, go straight (stay on the parkway) until you get to the next rotary. (Rte. 1A will turn off the parkway, but you shouldn't.)
At the rotary, take the first right onto the causeway.
At the end of the causeway, take the second left (at the end of the rock wall on your left) onto Little Nahant Road. If you pass a boarded-up coast guard station on your left, you went too far.
Ours is the second house on the left, at the curve in the road. The address is 8 Little Nahant Road.
To get home, reverse these directions.
If you're coming up Rte. 128 Northbound, get off at Exit 44B and follow the signs to Rte. 129 East/Lynn.
If you're coming down I-95/Rte. 128 Southbound (e.g., from Maine or Gloucester), get off at Exit 44 onto Rte. 1 South. Stay in the right lane, and take the exit & left turn onto Rte. 129 East/Lynn.
Stay on Rte. 129 through the rotary.
Once you're through the rotary, forget about the fact that you're on Rte. 129 (which will eventually turn off) and go straight at every intersection for about 5 miles, until you get to the ocean. (Some intersections may make you nervous about whether you're doing the right thing, but trust that you will.) The street will keep becoming narrower until you think you're about to drive into somebody's driveway. At this point, you'll get to the ocean.)
When you get to the ocean, turn right (the only way you're allowed to turn) onto Lynn Shore Drive.
At the rotary, take the second exit onto the causeway, by the "Entering Nahant" sign.
At the end of the causeway, take the second left (at the end of the rock wall on your left) onto Little Nahant Road. If you pass a boarded-up coast guard station on your left, you went too far.
Ours is the second house on the left, at the curve in the road. The address is 8 Little Nahant Road.
To get home, you can reverse these directions except that you have to turn left somewhere before the street that brought you to the ocean, then right, and then left onto Atlantic St.
By commuter rail, take a Rockport or Newburyport train from North Station to Central Square, Lynn. By bus, take a 426, 441, 442, 455 or 456 bus from Haymarket; a 448, 449 or 459 bus from Downtown Crossing or South Station; or a 426W, 441, 442, 448, or 449 bus from Wonderland. (At Wonderland, you'll need to cross the tracks and wait at the bus stop on Rte. 1A.) Get off the bus at Central Square, Lynn.
Call us before your train or bus leaves and let us know which one you're on. We'll meet you at your train or bus in Lynn.
