Middlesex
Morris

Middlesex Morris was a mixed morris dancing team that performed in the Boston area from 1984 through 1999. Our repertoire consisted of Cotswold morris dances in the styles of Headington, Bledington, Ilmington, Adderbury and Fieldtown. In January 2000, Middlesex Morris joined forces with Lemon & Capers Morris to form a new team, Red Herring Morris.

Our flyer gives some additional information about us, and one of the many hypotheses about the origins of Morris dancing. You can find some alternative hypotheses on the Lemon & Capers Morris homepage.

Of course, if you really want to know what Morris dancing is all about, you should see it for yourself. If you'd like to meet some of us in person, we're planning a reunion for the team some time next spring. Details will appear on our performance schedule page as soon as we know them.

If you have graphics capability, you may want to look at our team photo: from 1993, or some pictures of us dancing, courtesy of Megan. The team photo is an image map, so you can click on someone's picture to find out more about that person.

For those of you who are interested in Morris songs, check out Fields So Green and Hell's Bells, by team member Jeff Bigler.

If you have any comments or questions about Middlesex Morris, please send us email.

You may want to also check out other Morris teams' homepages.
