S.M. Clark

Music Director

S.M. Clark was born in Newport, Rhode Island. He holds a BM and a MM with Distinction in Performance in Composition from the New England Conservatory, and Brandeis University. His principal teacher and compositional mentor is Robert DiDomenica, and he has studied as well with Robert Cogan, Harold Shapero and Yehudi Wyner. He is the recipient of two Meet-the-Composer grants, several fellowships to the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, the Millay Colony for the Arts, the Djerassi Foundation, and the Cummington Community for the Arts. He has collaborated with playwrights, choreographers, film makers, visual artists, and, recently, with British author Anthony Burgess on the libretto for his second opera, Cyrano.
