Introduction
Vowel Landmarks indicate the locations of vowels in a speech signal.
They are one aspect of the Lexical Access From Features (LAFF) system,
being developed at MIT.
This study does the following:
- examine the definition of a Vowel Landmark
- review prior work on similar problems
- create a prototype detector and test it
- devise a scoring paradigm to measure performance
- examine the predictions of acoustic theory
- gather statistics on database to test theory
