Automatic Syllable Detection is used in some Speech Recognition (SR) systems.
- Prevalent in knowledge-based SR systems in 1960's and 1970's
- Not used in statistically-based SR systems in 1980's and 1990's
- Has never been tested on modern databases (TIMIT, Switchboard)
