Good afternoon Heidi,

It was nice to speak with you earlier today and I appreciate your interest in hosting an event at the Museum of Science.  I am delighted to report that with over 1.5 million visitors coming through its doors each year, the Museum of Science is the most visited cultural organization in New England!  Truly a matchless venue, the Museum offers novel surroundings and out-of-the-ordinary experiences that promise to intrigue and entertain event guests of all ages.

As of today, the Blue Wing is available on the following Saturdays in April and May of 2010: April 3rd and10th, May 1st and 15th.  This visually stimulating and electric atmosphere is the Museum's largest area of Exhibit Halls that offers a unique and interactive site for evening events.  When renting the Blue Wing, guests can exclusively enjoy three floors of amusement and depending on what you're looking to do, there are three theaters within the Blue Wing that can be rented to enhance the experience - Cahners Theater, the Theater of Electricity and the Wright 3-D Cinema.

Below, you will find pricing and the amenities included in this rental, as well as additional programming options.  For your convenience, I have attached an information sheet that includes pictures and capacity specifications for the highlighted space along with our Event Policies that are full of important information about hosting an event at the Museum of Science.

If you are interested in adding on special Museum programming for your guests to enjoy, I can offer you the following exciting options to consider:
1.  You may exclusively buy-out the newly renovated Mugar Omni Theater, which seats 314 guests.  You may choose from any IMAX film in the Museum's library and your group would be in this theater for a private viewing of the film!  Shows are approximately 45 minutes.  The cost for this buy-out during Omni business hours is $2,500.00 per show.
2.  Pending renovations, you may exclusively buy-out the Charles Hayden Planetarium, which seats 239 guests.  You may choose from any laser show in the Museum's library, in addition to a few Planetarium shows, and your group would be in this theater for a private viewing of the show!  Shows are approximately 45 minutes.  The cost for this buy-out during Planetarium business hours is $2,500.00 per show.
3.  Discounted tickets to the Omni and Planetarium theaters for the date of your event for an already scheduled show costs $6.50 per ticket, per show.
4.  When privately renting the Blue Wing, you may exclusively buy-out the Wright 3-D Theater, which seats 114 guests.  You may choose from any 3-D film in the Museum's library and your group would be in this theater for a private viewing of the film!  The cost for this buy-out is $500.00 per show and shows are approximately 20 minutes.
5.  When privately renting the Blue Wing, you may exclusively buy-out the Theater of Electricity and catch an indoor lightning storm.  The show is approximately 20 minutes and costs $500.00 per show.  This price includes allowing one guest in the demonstrator's cage during the lightening demonstration!  The Theater of Electricity seats 80 people on the lower level and can accommodate 400 guests standing on three levels.  In this demonstration, your group will learn about the connections between electric and magnetic forces during this high-voltage presentation and they will also witness a demonstration of lightning created by the world's largest air-insulated Van de Graaff generator.
You are more than welcome to have a band or a DJ play at the Museum.  If you prefer to rent a dance floor through the Museum rather than bringing in one, the rental cost is $500.00 and this fee includes the dance floor, installation and strike.  Aside from our exclusive caterer, Wolfgang Puck Catering, you are welcome to work with any vendor you wish.  Feel free to contact me for vendor recommendations.  The Museum requires events of 300 guests or more to hire a State Trooper and the ratio is 1 State Trooper, per 300 guests.  The rate is $50.00 per hour with a four hour minimum, in four hour increments.

Last but certainly not least, when you add the creative catalyst of Wolfgang Puck Catering, the Museum's exclusive caterer, to this magnificent setting, you will experience the perfect chemistry for your event!  Our catering team is focused on ensuring that every guest experience and event is a flawless, effortless occasion by working with you to establish your linen and labor needs and to customize your food and beverage menu based on your taste, budget and preference.  Jessica Belanger is the Senior Catering Sales Manager of Wolfgang Puck Catering and she will be following up with you shortly.  Should you have any catering related questions before then or would like to discuss a customized proposal based on your event needs, you may contact her directly at 617-589-3198 or at JBelanger@mos.org .

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a site visit and discuss moving forward.

Best regards,

Shannon
