Who's Who

Rabbi Michelle Fisher joined MIT Hillel as Executive Director on July 13, 2009

Rabbi Michelle Fisher is excited and energized to be returning to MIT as the Executive Director of Hillel.  She looks forward to the intensity of Tech life, and to re-entering the world of four distinct seasons - yes, including snow – after serving as a pulpit rabbi in Northern California.

Michelle Fisher

Rabbi Fisher earned her undergraduate degree, in chemistry, from Princeton University and a Masters in Chemistry from MIT.  Ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2002, she has served as the Associate Rabbi of Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD and the Rabbi of Congregation B’nai Shalom in Walnut Creek, CA.  She is an alumna of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship, a veteran of the US Naval Chaplain Corps, and a former student at both Pardes Institute and the Hartman Institute in Jerusalem.

She enjoys swimming, skydiving, and bicycling, including participating in the 2007 Arava/Hazon Israel ride, during which she biked 300 miles from Jerusalem to Eilat.  Her passions for pluralism, guiding others on their Jewish journeys, and exploring the nexus of science and religion make campus work at MIT Hillel an ideal match.
