  Prospective Students

Welcome to MIT Hillel. We always enjoy meeting prospective or newly admitted students. Whether you only want to stop by briefly to see what Hillel has to offer, or you would like us to arrange a host and meals, we are happy to help you plan your visit so you can learn about general life and Jewish life at MIT.

Campus Visits
If you are interested in MIT, we encourage you to visit! Experience life in the dormitories; visit an array of different classes/labs; take a campus tour; socialize with students; visit the Hillel to learn about Jewish life on campus. Hillel can arrange for prospective students to stay with a Jewish student whose interests and/or observance are similar. To make arrangements please e-mail visithillel@mit.edu or call us at (617)253-2982. If you keep kosher, ask about the current schedule and reservations for Shabbat meals, and weekday kosher meals.

MIT runs a general campus tour Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tours depart from the Information Office in the Main Lobby (Lobby 7). Hillel is located close to the start of the tours.

Campus Life
Most MIT undergraduate students live in campus dormitories or in MIT independent living groups. There are kosher living groups in several dormitories and one Jewish residential fraternity. Graduate students live both on and off campus.

Kosher food, both prepared foods and grocery items, are available on campus at Kosher Convenience in Baker House, 7 days a week. Shabbat and holiday meals by Hillel; kosher restaurants and stores in the area.

To find out more about specific aspects of Jewish life at Hillel visit other areas of our MIT Hillel website and/or contact the Hillel office at (617)253-2982 to speak directly with a member of the Hillel staff.

Campus Preview Weekend
If you have been accepted to MIT, we encourage you to come to campus for a visit. There are several options for you:

MIT sponsors a "Campus Preview Weekend" in early April. This is a great opportunity to learn about general MIT life and Jewish campus life. Hillel sponsors several programs and meals in conjunction with MIT's CPW. If you would like a Jewish host during your CPW visit, contact Hillel.

If you are unable to come to CPW, Hillel is pleased to host accepted students on other dates during February, March, and April. MIT Hillel will arrange for a host, class visits, and a glimpse at general MIT student life and Jewish life. Visits should overlap a weekday for class visits and part or all of a weekend so that you can experience a Shabbat and the campus social life. Simply contact the MIT Hillel office to make arrangements - (617) 253-2982 or email visithillel@mit.edu.
