Socks Gallery

I learned to knit when was about eight and then stopped a few years later and didn't pick it back up until I was in graduate school. I made two and a quarter sweaters, one of which I felted the first tie I washed it, and six and a half pairs of socks before falling off the wagon for another stretch of many years. I rediscovered knitting again in spring 2007 and started producing more socks. This may be the year of the Christmas sock... Even so, I have nothing on Laura in the sock department.
Grey Everyday Socks
My first pair ever. Everyday Socks using a pattern from Silver Creek Classics and Stahl Socka in greys. Once there were two, but one went AWOL in the laundry years ago.
Purple Everyday Socks
Pair Two -- Just like pair one but in purple, now with Donna. (No picture yet)
Blue Tencel Boot Socks
Pair Three -- Silver Creek Classics Boot Socks pattern, for Susie. (No picture yet)
Olive Boot Socks
Pair Four -- Made from leftoer sweater yarn. Very warm, but handwash only. (Oops) Nevertheless, they have gotten enough wearing to sprout a hole.
Microfiber
Pairs Five & Six -- Boot socks in microfiber. Probably not the best yarn for socks, though I made two pairs, one given away.
Nacht Blue Socks
Pair Seven -- After a multi year hiatus, I return to making socks. These are still the everyday sock pattern, but with self striping yarn "Austermann Step" in "Nacht Blu." Very soft. March 2007
Tiny Socks
Pair Eight -- Leftover yard from pair #7. Improvised baby socks, made by knitting the boot socks pattern down 4 or 5 needles sizes. April 2007
Kiessel Jaywallkers
Pair Nine -- Jaywalkers in Austemann Step colorway "Kiessel" (flint). April 2007.
Hundertwasser
Pair Ten -- Deliberately (slightly) mismatched pair, inspired by the label of the Opal Hundertwasser yarn. May 2007.
Erde Jaywalkers
Pair 11 -- Much like pair #9, but with some minor tweaks here and there. For me. May 2007.
Grey Everyday Socks Redux.
Pair One is a pair again. I was able to make a replacement sock out of the leftover yarn. July 2007.
Pink Anniversary Socks
Pair 12 -- Nancy Bush's Anniversary Socks in Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino in "Infatuation." For Mom. July 2007.
Sideways Socks
Pair 13 -- "Sideways Socks Supreme" from Socks, Socks, Socks in Cascade Fixation. The stretchiness helps with the fit. The toe is a little odd, but I didn't realize that until I had knit an entire sock, so I kept it. For Sara. August 2007.
