speed 30: most medium-sized bipeds (e.g. human, elf) speed 25: most small-sized bipeds (e.g halfling, goblin) (That's +5 speed for the short people (when in light armor or no armor or with a light burden), compared to standard rules.) All races with infravision in 1st/2nd Edition have the same thing in 3rd, so races with either dark vision or low-light vision in 3rd Edition (except animals) have both in Fivtoria. Since the world of Fivtoria has lots of dialects of just a few languages, high Intelligence helps you cross dialects rather than giving you bonus starting languages. HUMANS No changes, other than the languages note above. DWARVES - Base land speed 25 speed, dropping to 20 if encumbered. - In addition to the +2 on Poison and Spell saves, they get their Constitution bonus (if positive) doubled for any fortitude save against poison. I.e. A dwarf of Constitution 16 would get the fortitude save bonus for levels, +3 for Con as usual... and for being a dwarf would get +2 and another +3 for Con. - There is no such thing as a dwarven ugrosh, but dwarves can use the axe equivalent of the bastard sword. - Typically get the "Fight Giant" feat for free, and count as size "small" for the use of that feat. - The appraise bonus of 3rd Ed dwarves would just be a skill focus, and is not included for free. - The -2 charisma adjustment of Dwarves does not apply to social skills when dealing with other dwarves. It also does not apply to diguising oneself as another dwarf, dealing with constructs or turning/rebuking undead. ELVES - There is no immunity to sleep. Instead, elves get +8 to save versus sleep effects. In addition to the +2 bonus on saves versus Enchantment, they get their Charisma bonus added to their save. Versus sleep effects, both will normally apply. (They stack.) - A +1 bonus to base attack with longsword, spear and bow. If the character hasn't taken proficiency in those weapons, he can use them as though proficient, but with no bonus to his base attack. - As long as I'm at it... strike the advantage in finding concealed or secret doors. I never did see any justification for that, and it hasn't come up (enough to remember, anyway) in Fivtoria runs. GNOMES - Base land speed 25 speed, dropping to 15 if encumbered. - The stat adjustments are +2 Con, -4 Str. They get +2 Int and +2 Dex for purposes of learning complex processes like spell casting. These bonuses count for prerequisites. They also get a +1 reaction adjustment when it would be useful to appear inoffensive. - Their +2 save bonus versus Illusion is because their senses are wired differently, not because they are all experts in the art. - They typically get the "Fight Giant" feat for free. - No free spells. HALF-ELVES - There is no immunity to sleep. Instead, half-elves get +4 to save versus sleep effects. They also get the standard +2 bonus on saves versus Enchantment. Versus sleep effects, both will normally apply. (They stack.) HALF-ORCS - Favored class is Fighter, as much as the concept of a "favored class" exists at all. HALFLINGS - Base land speed 25 speed, dropping to 15 if encumbered. - Strike the +1 on all saves, and the +2 on fear saves. - Get +1 on Poison and Spell saves, and also get Constitution bonus doubled for any fortitude save against poison. - Get a +1 attack with all projectile weapons, due to a racial aptitude for trajectories. - Most halflings have 30 foot infravision (30 foot darkvision, plus low-light vision).
