Thesis Abstract: Integration of System-Level Optimization with Concurrent Engineering |
Concurrent engineering practices put engineers together for fast-paced design sessions, in which many design points can be explored in a relatively small amount of time. System-level optimization is a powerful tool that is continuing to improve as the techniques get refined and as computers get faster. Currently, system-level optimizers tend to be run offline and take significant amounts of time to converge, which makes them difficult to run in parallel with concurrent engineering sessions. By parameterizing the subsystem models, the system-level optimizer can be sped up to the level required for a design session. This integration has potential to be a powerful aid to concurrent engineering. | |
