Lord Rhys declared at the last town gathering that he was forming the New Galen Garrison. Thundergutt is the Captain-Commander. The Galenese Guard are now a Company within the Garrison, as is the Militia. Dolan Ironglaive, Robert de Guy, and myself were all named as Captains of the Garrison. Tempus von Galen was relieved of duty and escorted back to Galen City by Lord Rhys; it is unclear if he is under arrest.

After much discussion with the Captain-Commander and the other Captains, I believe that what was the Militia of New Galen can continue. We will have some new traditions while preserving other traditions. Our focus will change, but I believe our corps will not.

To be blunt, I am unsure if the Garrison will work. Myself, I am only signing up for one moon. I would be honored if all of you would sign up with me for one moon and join my Company. I fully realize that there are two other Companies, and it is my hope that all of you will find a good match in the Garrison. The rumors of an Okian invasion are persistent to the point where they seem credible. It is my belief that we will need every settler to defeat the invasion. Although the settlement has not yet suffered a communications disruption, invasion seems imminent.

Given the departure of Tempus and the fact that the Militia is now something different, I have decided to drop the appellation "Militia of New Galen" and form a new Company, based in part on the traditions of the Militia. As Bravo Company of the Garrison, the Company still enjoys a tremendous amount of latitude. Nevertheless, we are no longer a completely independent entity. I have picked the nickname "Tomo's Tigerhawks" for Bravo Company.

One should carefully note that the consequence of the town not forming a strong Garrison is that Lord Rhys will undoubtedly bring in a large contingent of Galenese Guards and declare martial law. It is estimated that this will be quite disruptful to the harmony of the settlement.

As stated above, it is imperative that the settlement field a strong Garrison. Which Company settlers join is not so important as finding the right Company to join. There is no dishonor is signing up for one moon, and then switching to another Company that is a better match.
