Filename: DT/bandits Author: dcctdw %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% The Diabolists of Thessalanica, Part II %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% There is a nest of diabolists in Thessalanica operating out of the Dyes & Textiles merchant house of Irexia, with the following structure (@ represents diabolists): Chief Merchant Saul Irexia Irexia's first son Dexamenus Irexia's second son Inachus (now serving in Imperial Army) Irexia's third son Polypemon @ Submerchant Thersilochos (RIP) @ Submerchant Jason (marked) @ Accountant Ancus @ Accountant's assistant Sicinus @ Grogs: @ Hippothoos (RIP), Emathion (RIP), Faustulus (RIP), Nestor (RIP), Pandion Actaeon, Gelonus, Tarchetius, Capys, Idmon, Quirinus Clerks: @ Medon (RIP), Zethus Udaeus, Deliades Grunts: @ Deisenor (RIP), Asteropaios (RIP), Chromios (RIP), Lacinius (RIP), Rhexenor (RIP) Bellerophon, Haemon, Xuthus @ Semele (female), Vegoia (female) Juventas (female), Keres (female), Marica (female), Ocrisia (female) + Sicinus is the Master of the Circle and calls himself Sinis. Sinis only speaks with Promachus and lets Promachus run things. Sinis has no immediate short-term plans except to cultivate the long-term downfall of Irexia and his house. Sinis is also in charge of the various Infernal creatures living in the sewers. + Polypemon is Sinis' lieutenant and calls himself Promachus. Polypemon often thinks of himself as the true master of the Circle, as he usually is the leader of the various nefarious rituals. Polypemon knows that Sinis has more intricate Infernal dealings but knows enough not to pry. Polypemon is a spoiled-brat bitter little man. He knows that he will never become anything great, because he is a third son. The house and its wealth goes to the first son; the glory of being a warrior goes to the second son. So Jason has become embittered and "wants it all", but being small-minded, he doesn't actually know what this is. Having people kow-tow to him and being cruel gives him satisfaction for now; eventually, he wants to be head of House Irexia. + Thersilochos is Polypemon's first lieutenant. Jason is Polypemon's second lieutenant. Neither are considered high-ranking enough to have taken on an alias. With the demise of Thersilochos, Ancus has recently risen to second lieutenant. + Rank and file: Emathion, Faustulus, Nestor, Pandion, Medon, Deisenor, Asteropaios, Chromios, Zethus, Lacinius, Rhexenor, Semele (female), Vegoia (female). + All of the diabolists are in it for the money, basically. Some like the power too, but let's face it, they're not in it for just the money -- they're in it for a shitload of money. Smuggling arms is the basic way, but basically smuggling anything is the way to go. + Everyone else in Thessalanica knows that basically the surrounding has steadily been deteriorating. The Civil Watch just shrugs (sloth). The Church isn't sure what's going on. (Some in the Watch and the Church may be corrupted, but that should be beyond the scope of SW's investigations.) + Mundanes: Semele and Vegoia (female grunts) Not impressive quarterstaff fighters +5/+2/+4/+6 Soak +1 Dodge +1 Fatigue +1 Impressive knife throwers: +0/+5 +3 to all personal interaction rolls Lacinius and Rhexenor (grunts) Not impressive shortsword fighters +5/+7/+7/+4 Soak +3 Dodge +3 Fatigue +1 Emathion, Faustulus, Nestor (grogs) Good broadsword fighters +9/+10/+12/+6 Soak +12 Dodge +5 Fatigue +2 Pandion (grog) Impressive pole axe fighter +12/+8/+20/+7 Soak +15 Dodge +7 Fatigue +3 + The sewers is Sinis' pet project. Anyone with alertness=15 will remember after the fight.
