These designs modified from the designs at The Big Yellow Box. Cool site, even if it's constantly getting slashdotted. :)
My emphasis on design has been to think about functionality and aesthetics: real buttons, buttons in places that make sense for both one-handed and two-handed usage (you want to be able to reach the button one-handed, but not have it in the way with a double grip), correct clip knob placement (too central, and you can't sit down without having your pommel interfere with the backrest of the chair), etc. I have also emphasized a darker aesthetic suitable for Sith lords/ladies and their apprentices. :)
These lightsabers were photographed over my Legends shield, which is covered in duct tape, which is why there's a weird sheen in the photos. Thanks to Liz Smith for letting me use her digital camera and then uploading the pix for me. :)
Not surprisingly, the lightsabers get vastly better with experience. :)

This lightsaber is fairly straightforward. The grips are medium. The major flaw with this design is that the emitter collar rests on the ground, thereby scratching the paint. I (obviously) had trouble with the inner grips: the dowel fits too tightly, so the grips had to be malleted in, with poor results. Also, the belt clip is too far forward.

Except for the handles around the emitter, this is a trivial lightsaber. Note how the lightsaber rests on the prefab materials, which don't scratch. The grips are large, so it only works for people with big hands. The emitter conduits are an interesting effect, but overpower the overall aesthetic. I'm not sure the metal loops would look better.

This lightsaber is built on a 1.25" pipe, so the grips are small -- they're meant for a woman's hands. Notice the recessed activator button.

Under design. I will probably use a 1.25" as a base, but effectively have a 1.5" handle. I'm thinking of using a faucet handle pommel, alternating 1.5" rings with polywashers for the handle, an activator and emitter collar similar to Style III, and an internal female adapter to accept a boffer blade. I'm trying to imitate the sleekness of Style III.
