  2001-2003

  Research Lab Manager for Dr. Linda van Eldik. Duties include laboratory maintenance, safety officer, radiation safety officer, training and supervision of students and technicians, design, implementation and troubleshooting of experimental protocols.

• Massachusetts General Hospital, Dept. of Neurology

  1999-2000

  Research technologist in the Alzheimer's Research Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Brad Hyman. Duties included molecular cloning, Western blotting, ELISA, confocal and dual photon microscopy, cell culture and primary neuron isolation and culture, PCR. Also Radiation Safety Oficer and General Safety Officer for the laboratory. Participated in the training and supervision of incoming technicians.

• Arqule Corporation and Brandeis University

  1996--1999

  As consultant to Arqule Corporation and Visiting Scientist at Brandeis, worked on a joint project between Arqule Corporation and Brandeis involving synthesis of novel protease inhibitors. Designed an enzyme kinetics laboratory; developed, ran, and did troubleshooting of assays to test synthetic inhibitors of thrombin; performed and presented kinetic analyses of the results.

• Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Dept. of Cancer Pharmacology

  1996--1998

  Under the direction of Dr. Miyako Abe, cultured MCF-7 cells and purified DF3 protein for use in research into the role of DF3 in cellular function. Responsibilities included Laboratory Safety Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, laboratory management, ordering, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment, and conducting experiments. Techniques included cell culture, FPLC, Western immunoblotting, plasmid transfection, affinity chromatography, PCR, phage library screening, DNA and plasmid purification. Trained and supervised summer student.

• Tufts University, Dept. of Anatomy and Cell Biology

  1995

  Held the position of research technician under the direction of Dr. Mary K. Murray. Techniques included lectin chromatography and electrophoresis, DNA cloning, PCR, and DNA sequencing.

  1987--1994

  Held the position of research technologist under the direction of Dr. Stuart Lind. Responsibilities: Safety Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, lab management, experimental design, conducting experiments, and supervision and training of incoming technician. Techniques included protein purification, affinity and ion exchange chromatography, ELISAs, SDS-PAGE, immunoblots, antibody preparation, small animal surgery, histological staining of rat and human tissue preparations, enzyme kinetics experiments (synthetic substrate assays), fibrinolysis experiments using fibrinogen or whole plasma and ¹²⁵I, and cell culture.

• Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Biotechnology Lab

  1986

  Studied the interaction of phosphoprotein 53 and large T-antigen in a temperature-sensitive rat embryo neural crest cell line, and investigated the relationship of these proteins to cellular differentiation.
