I had drawn a very similar mayfly CP more than a year ago, but it had funny proportions so I just left it on my computer. Recently I went back to it and realized that I only needed to make a few small changes to have all references lie on 1/4 marks or along a 45 degree angle. This is currently one of my favorite insect models.

I have realized that it always pays to precrease as much as possible, even the last level of thinning folds. The model comes out much nicer and since the collapse of the base is much faster, it is not really a noticeable time 'sink'. Also I am trying not to rush the folding sequence, which also harms the quality of models.
