Goliath beetle

Goliathus goliathus

folded from an uncut square

Another insect I designed during my Japan trip. (no, I didn't just fold the whole time). This time I started by only designing the legs, to get them spaced evenly, keeping in mind that Goliathus has slightly longer forelegs. I folded that and figured the rest as I went, since I had reserved a lot of extra paper for the color changes.

Folded life size from painted chiri unryu. When I am not using origamido paper, I use a lot of chiri unryu, which is a nice thin, strong and 'crispy' paper.
