All students admitted to our program are invited to visit the Chemistry Department on our annual Visiting Student Weekend held in March. During this weekend, prospective students have an opportunity to interact with MIT faculty and current graduate students both formally and informally. Prospective students meet with faculty at receptions and dinners and learn about current research at poster sessions and in meetings with faculty and current graduate students. Tours are provided of the department, the MIT campus, and the Cambridge/Boston area. Information about the Visiting Student Weekend is sent to students at the time they are informed that they are admitted to the program. Admitted students who cannot visit the department during the Visiting Student Weekend due to a conflict should contact Lynn Marie Guthrie (guthrie@mit.edu) for information on arranging a visit at another time.

Because of the high volume of applicants, we cannot accommodate requests for formal visits to the department prior to admission.
