EC-01
Preliminary Call for Tutorial Proposals
The EC-01 Program Committee invites proposals for the Tutorial Program
for EC-01, the 2001 ACM Conference on
Electronic Commerce, to be held in Tampa, Florida, USA. Tutorials will be
held on October 14, 2001,
immediately before the start of the main conference.
Tutorials should serve one or more of the following objectives:
-
Introduce novices to major topics of Electronic Commerce (EC) as a research
area.
-
Provide instruction in established practices and methodologies.
-
Survey a mature area of EC research and/or practice.
-
Motivate and explain an EC topic of emerging importance.
-
Introduce expert nonspecialists to an EC subarea.
-
Present a novel synthesis combining distinct lines of EC work.
Requirements for Submission
Those interested in presenting a tutorial should submit a proposal by
E-MAIL to BOTH of the EC-01 Tutorial Co-Chairs,
Chrysanthos Dellarocas
(e-mail dell@mit.edu) and
Benjamin Grosof
(e-mail bgrosof@mit.edu).
A tutorial proposal should contain the following information:
-
A brief description of the tutorial, suitable for inclusion in the conference
registration brochure.
-
A detailed outline of the tutorial, including its proposed length.
Length should be no longer than half a day (3.5 hours not including breaks).
-
Characterization of the potential target audience for the tutorial, including
prerequisite knowledge. Indicate which of the above objectives are best
served by the proposed tutorial.
-
A description of why the tutorial topic would be of interest to a substantial
part of the EC-01 audience.
-
A brief resume of the presenter(s), which should include contact info
(name, e-mail address, home page URL if at possible, postal address,
phone and fax numbers), background in the tutorial area,
any available example of work in the area (ideally, a published tutorial-level
article on the subject), evidence of teaching experience (including references
that address the proposer's presentation ability), and evidence of scholarship
in EC (e.g. a published EC paper or a tutorial syllabus).
Those submitting a proposal should keep in mind that tutorials are intended
to provide an overview of the field; they should present reasonably well
established information in a balanced way. Tutorials should not be used
to advocate a single avenue of research, nor should they promote a product.
