MIT Professor James Keck, Cariplo-UniBS Visiting Professor Gian Paolo Beretta, Northeastern University Professor Hameed Metghalchi, and Mohammad Janbozorgi (Northeastern University PhD student) smile exhausted after a long series of heated discussions on one of the final versions of their long paper on rate-controlled constrained-equilibrium mehods for nonequilibrium dynamics.  (January 2010)

MIT Professor Nicolas Hadjiconstantinou and Cariplo-UniBS Visiting Professor Gian Paolo Beretta (UniBS co-director of the Cariplo faculty exchange program) discuss about writing a joint proposal to collaborate on a joint experimental and numerical study about heat transfer enhancement in microchannel flow via spinodal decomposition. (February 2010)

Cariplo-UniBS Visiting Assistant Professor Paolo Iora and MIT Professor Ahmed Ghoniem (MIT co-director of the Cariplo faculty exchange program) discuss about their mutual research interests in detailed modeling of high temperature fuel cells and advanced energy technologies (February 2010)

Dr. Jekanthan Thangavelautham (MIT postdoctoral associate) and Cariplo-UniBS Visiting Assistant Professor Paolo Iora at the Mechanical Engineering Department of MIT.  They worked closely for three months on the fuel cell project. (April 2010)

Cariplo-MIT Visiting Professor Evelyn Wang during her visit in Brescia delivers a wonderful keynote lecture at the UIT2010 Heat Transfer Congress (http://uit2010.ing.unibs.it/). In the other two photos, she attends another lecture, and she enjoys the formal social dinner at the table with her husband Hao Lin, Pietro Poesio, Gian Paolo Beretta and his wife Giulia. A peak of four MIT-MechE professors involved in the Cariplo exchange program are present in Brescia at the same time . To testify and celebrate the nice coincidence, we took this photo and had an informal lunch together with them and their collaborating Cariplo partners. The four MIT professors are: Konstantin Turitsyn (visiting Stefano Wabnitz), Nicolas Hadjiconstantinou (visiting Pietro Poesio), Kimberly Hamad-Shifferli (visiting Paolo Bergese), Tomasz Wierzbicki (visiting Alberto Salvadori). (June 24, 2011)

During their stay at MIT to work in collaboration with MIT Professor Tomasz Wierzbicki, Prof. Alberto Salvadori (CaRiPLo-UniBS Visiting Assistant Professor) and Elisabetta Bosco (CaRiPLo-UniBS Visiting Scientist) give a technical seminar (October 2011)

During the Fall 2012 stay at MIT prof. Beretta worked at the organization of the 12th Joint European Thermodynamics Conference, JETC 2013, that was held in Brescia, July 1-5, 2013.  This international event was very successful and concluded the Cariplo exchange program. The Cariplo Foundation has been indicated as a major sponsor of the event, see http://jetc2013.ing.unibs.it Here we see the conference room during a talk, a group photo, and the two co-directors of the Cariplo exchange program, prof. Beretta and prof. Ghoniem, giving their talks.
