At the beginning of each term, we hold Open Meetings which are specifically designed to introduce people to APO and answer their questions. If you are interested in joining, please contact us -- it may be too late for the current term, but we would like to talk to you anyways, since there's always next term.

Alpha Phi Omega uses a pledging period to acquaint both pledges and brothers with each other. During their pledge term, pledges learn what it's like to be a brother, since we ask pledges to do basically the same thing brothers do.

As a pledge, you will be asked to

• Attend about six projects a term (the actual number varies from term to term, but the number is usually six or seven),
• Attend two fellowship events,
• Attend at least 3 meetings (meetings' duration is anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour),
• Learn a chapter skill (printing, silkscreening, CPR, or treasury),
• Help run a chapter event (naturally, we will help you run it!)

and a few other small miscellaneous requirements.

We do not haze, nor are pledges asked to do personal service for brothers. The point of the pledge period is to introduce the pledge to all aspects of the chapter, and to ensure that all the brothers know a pledge. Thus, at the end of the term, both the pledge and the brothers decide if elevation would be the best course of action. (In almost all cases, anyone who is a serious pledge is elevated.)
