I was a founding member and the co-director of the MIT sidewalk astronomy club from Oct 2017 to Aug 2020. Every few weeks, we would set up telescopes on random sidewalks and let the general public stargaze at their favorite objects. You can learn more about our organization and future outings here!

From 2015 to 2018, I was the astrophysics instructor for MOSTEC, a summer program run by the MIT Office of Engineering Outreach Programs. MOSTEC is a free program designed to bring students together from different communities via an online platform, on which they can take courses in science writing and an area of science that interests them. The program also has a one-week component at MIT. You can learn more about the program here. If you are interested in any of the astrophysics course material, please feel free to contact me at achiti@mit.edu.

I have previously been a teaching assistant for 8.01 (Introductory Mechanics) at MIT in the fall of 2015 and the fall of 2016. I was also a teaching assistant for 8.287J (Techniques of Observational Astronomy) in the fall of 2017 and the fall of 2018. Neither of these courses followed a traditional format. 8.01 was taught in an interactive teaching/learning format (learn more here). 8.287J involved students writing project proposals, taking data at the MIT Wallace Observatory, analyzing the data, and then writing up a journal-stlye article on their findings.
