8.01 Final Examination Results, Fall 1998

The average grade for the Final Examination was 63. The minimum passing grade for the exam is 55. In more detail, the numerical grade that you received can be translated into a letter grade by the following chart:

NUMERICAL GRADELETTER GRADE
82 - 100A
69 - 81B
55 - 68C
40 - 54D
0 - 39F

A histogram of the grades for the quiz is shown below. Note that vertical bars have been offset by half a point, so that each bar indicates the number of students who received the grades that are directly below the bar. Each bar indicates 5 possible grades: 96-100 for the first bar, 91-95 for the second bar, etc.

Your recitation instructor or tutor should be able to tell you your exam grade, as well as your final grade for the course, if you ask. If that does not work, feel free to send email to me at guth@ctp.mit.edu. If you wish to see your exam, Physics Department rules require that you make an appointment with your recitation instructor or tutor to look at the exam together, in the Physics Education Office.
