The passing grade for the exam has been set at 48 (out of 85). In more detail, the numerical grade that you received can be translated into a letter grade by the following chart:

| 73 - 85 | A |
| 61 - 72 | B |
| 48 - 60 | C |
| 35 - 47 | D |
| 0 - 34 | F |
A histogram of the grades for the exam is shown below. Note that vertical bars have been offset by half a point, so that each bar indicates the number of students who received the grades that are directly below the bar. The first bar indicates grades of 80-84; alas, there were no perfect 85's.
Your class instructor should be able to tell you your exam grade, as well as your final grade for the course, if you ask. If that does not work, feel free to send email to me at guth@ctp.mit.edu. If you wish to see your exam, Physics Department rules require that you make an appointment with your class instructor to look at the exam together, in the Physics Education Office.
