If you have excused absences on recitation quizzes

Monday-Wednesday Sections:

If you have taken only two quizzes, with an excused absence on the third quiz, then you should drop 2/5 of a quiz (i.e., 1/5 of the quizzes taken). The formula then becomes
                    0.6*Q1 + Q2
             <Q> = -------------
                         1.6

Tuesday-Thursday Sections:

If you were excused from one of the full quizzes, you should drop 1/5 of 1.5 quizzes, or 0.3 quizzes. If the half quiz is lower, the average is
                    0.2*Q_1/2 + Q1
             <Q> = -----------------
                         1.2
If the full quiz is lower, then
               0.7*Q1 + 0.5*Q_1/2
        <Q> = ---------------------
                     1.2
If you were excused from the half quiz, the number of quizzes that can be dropped is 1/5 of 2, or 0.4 quizzes. Using Q1 to denote the lower score and Q2 to denote the higher, the weighted average is
               0.6*Q1 + Q2
        <Q> = --------------
                    1.6
