Brief Login Instructions

Be sure java and JavaScript are enabled on your browser, set the screen resolution to 800 x 600 or more if possible, and maximize the size of your browser on the screen.

Go to http://CyberTutor.mit.edu -- Click the "New User" button at the bottom of the page.

Fill in all of the required fields (marked with an asterix) on this page to register yourself to use CyberTutor. Note that you will need WRITE DOWN AND REMEMBER your case-sensitive user name and password - it can be sent to your e-mail address if you forget. If this fails to get you straightened out (e.g. if CyberTutor continually refuses to log you in after you check your case-sensitive name and password) reregister with a slightly different user name and password, using your correct name and student I.D. number, and we will add your new scores to your old ones in the final grades reckoning.

Academic Class Code and Access Code

You will need to use the Academic Class Code MIT801100-spring (note the double 1 and the lower case on spring), then use the access code S2T8U3 to log yourself into 8.01. Your name and scores will then automatically be entered in the gradebook.

The remaining information will be used solely for studying correlations so that we can, in later versions, decide which available hint should help you the most. Please fill it in so we can correlate these variables with what hints help you.

Press "Submit."

8.01 CyberTutor Tutorial Sessions

Tutorial sessions on Cybertutor, its homework problems, the handed in homework problems, and 8.01 physics in general will be held in 4-035 Tuesdays 3-7 PM whenever CyberTutor assignments are due the following Tuesday. They will be in the electronic classroom in 4-035, which is in the basement not far from the infinite corridor. You should certainly go to the first tutorial if you have not logged in successfully by then.

On-line TA: CyberTutor TA Brian Fore will be on-line from 8PM to 10PM on Sunday and Tuesday nights before CyberTutor assignments are due. The best way to contact him is to click comment bar on the navigation bar on the left. This will get your question categorized (e.g. about the physics vs. about the grading of your problems). He will respond by e-mail.

e-mail help: If you have problems with the Cybertutor platform (as distinguished from the physics) you should first send a comment, indicating it's a bug when submitting. If you can't log in (even with a new user name and password), or have some other trouble (your old grades have disappeared), then e-mail gaber@mit.edu and alexp@amo.mit.edu.
