Three faculty win Sloan Research Fellowships

Three MIT faculty members have won Sloan Research Fellowships for 2011. They are Jeff Gore and Markus Klute, assistant professors in the physics department, and Laurent Demanet, assistant professor of mathematics.

Awarded annually since 1955, the fellowships are given to early career scientists and scholars in recognition of achievement and the potential to contribute substantially to their fields. Potential fellows must be nominated for recognition by their peers and are subsequently selected by an independent panel of senior scholars.

This year there are 118 fellows, each of whom will receive a $50,000 award over two years.
