Even though NCSA Mosaic was originally designed to be a document reader, its programmers designed it to be able to have inline image capabilty, and also the ability to read graphics in various formats. Ever since them, site with graphics and images have been poppping up around the world. A note to explorers: European sites tend to be, well, more open about the images that they store. I will make a note about These "open" sites so that sensitive viewers will not be offended of their content. These sites will have a small caution icon next to them. Raj
Duuuude.. check it out man, like I can see Cindy Crawford trapped in the computer, man From the memoirs of a person who did a little too much LSD
Images are scattered all over the Web, and many people aren't exactly willing to give the sites out to everyone that asks for fear of overloading their sites and having them shut down. Many of the sites that are open to public access have limited the number of people that can access the site. One of the most popular sites (yes, it does have a maximum number) is the Washington University of St.Louis site If that site is busy, try this mirror site. For gopher and ftp sites, one can also try the five or six sites listed in the Computer Images andArt section of the Global Network navigator's WWW-list., which includes the sunet site, which has a lot of fantasy artwork. Someone in Japan has setupa site that holds hundreds of images of the top Supermodels . His english is pretty bad, but his taste (in my opinion) is pretty good. Virtual Newsgroups have losts of graphics as well, but the site is restricted during working hours due to load problems Finally, come the caution sites:
Femmes femmes femmes je vous aime !... Translation: Girls, Girls, Girls, how I love you. This site contains a lot of normal material, but it does contain some material that is for the discerning material.
Not really much here, but to do this, you MUST be on a SUN
Planet Earth Sound page is the source for links to sounds at the moment. I won't insult the site by separating the links that they have there.
Again, any new sites would be appreciated, and any new sites that I find will certainly appear. Raj

Naturally, when something as good as Mosaic comes around, a lot of people will start devloping leisure activities around Mosaic. Sonce Mosaic is rapidly becoming the prefferred way of communication on the Internet, many people have developed interactive media on the Web. One of these people is my dorm tutor Henry Houh. Henry is a Phd candidate here at MIT, and has developed an on-line Television source Actually, it has gone a bit beyond this, with Television from a satellite dish, cable (usually PBS or CNN) and clips from Leno and Letterman. Speaking of Letterman, you can visit the official Daaavid Letterman site. The BMOC (Big Man on Campus) is now the BMON (Big Man on The Net). If you are into astrology and mysticism, there's a Tarot reading site where you can go and find out your future. If you are really bored, there are MAD LIBS! courtesy of the MIT SIPB office. Or you can play some of the !!!!!!!!games of the Web. Just scroll down to the games section. Or if you are playing NBA JAMS and need the code for Bill Clinton, (or for that matter codes for many other video games) you should check out the
This isn't to say that the only thing on the Web is stuff that will interest only computer geeks ( okay, 80% of it will, but there's still another 20% out there, right ). Ever interested about what happened !!!!!!this day in history? Or check out Richard's MIT local Humor Tree or the Computer Humor Archive at New Mexico Tech. For those of you who want more, the Games and Recreation libarary has more links for this topic.
The Eddings FAQ is here!!!
You can finger me for my user name and other pertinent stuff. (No, my e-mail address is not rshah@electric-monk.mit.edu, that's just the finger gateway. My real e-mail address is rshah@mit.edu )

Take a look at the !!!!! Class of '97 at MIT! (Only at a truly advanced institution of higher learning can something like this even be thought about, not to mention be accomplished !!!!)
MPEGS
There are quite a few sites that carry mpegs (short animated movies for those of you who don't understand the jargon. The
MPEG Movie Archive is probably the definitive site for mpegs right now. Having said that, I will now list a couple of other sites that carry mpegs. First is Center for Advanced Studies, R & D, in Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy), which is dedicated to MPEG compression standard, associated software and documentation. See their up-to-date and comprehensive FAQ document and their FTP site. There are also movies at
Sounds
If a tree falls in the forest when there is no one around, does it make a sound? station (at MIT?). Before running the sounds demos, do the following..... type "cd /usr/demo/SOUND/bin" type "soundtool" (no &) to run the MIT sound interface ... adjust the volume.. 16 is good, so you don't disturb anyone..... now, on an xterm, in your home directory, type "cat *.au > /dev/audio"... now click on the hypertext..
Games and Other Recreation
Video Games Database which has FAQs, cheats and solutions to many video games.
Fantasy
Finally, an overwhelming interest of mine are fantasy role-playing games and fantasy literature. By far my favorite author is David Eddings, author of the Belgariad and Elenium series. A MUD based around his Elenium series has popped up, and you can enter it from here You can also read the alt.fan.eddings newsgroup from the Usenet or the Del Rey Internet Newsletter from the people that publish David Eddings' books. Up to this point, I have not found any images from David Eddings' books, but there are quite a few other fantasy images on the Internet. Maps from a few eddings books have popped up though... they can be found at this site. Finally, being an AD&D player, I have to have at least one AD&D link in my page.
Links to Other people's home pages
No stupid quote here... just links to people that have helped me build this home page, and links to people who, in my opinion have cool home pages. This is the only place that I have allowed a list to emerge
Other Miscellany and About me
Okay, one more list Other lass savory interests (some are not intersts of mine, however)
