Wander about Ulm or not, depending on the weather. I've got my laptop back (hooray!) so can get back to accomplishing things. I find working at home on my laptop is better than working at work. Though I get food at work, which is not as easy at home, so I do have incentive to go. The Cantina is quite tasty. I got my first roll of film developed. I scanned in the pictures, and you can see them at http://web.mit.edu/marleigh/www/Germany/ Note the trip to Augsburg last Saturday. It was pretty neat. There are more pictures of Augsburg, but they shall arrive when the second roll of film gets developed. German Word of the Week: der Quark = cottage cheese I don't actually believe it's cottage cheese. I saw this strange product in the grocery store, between the cheese and the yogurt, with spreadable dairy things. Since it was called "Quark," I bought some (O come now, if you saw something in the store with such an intriguing name for only a few dollars, wouldn't you buy it?). The ingredients were equally helpful: Herb quark and mushroom quark, with some quark. It turns out to taste like flavored sour cream, not cool stuff to spread on bread like I'd hoped. I'll buy some potato chips tomorrow, and perhaps that'll taste better. Honor and Glory... to the Whyland clan for their package, also to MikeP, Mike C, and Mom for letters. to cheap train tickets. Dishonor and Noteriety... to taking laptops to conferences and not using them. to coming in early to work to get stuff done, and getting drafted into a meeting that lasts half the day. Yup, that's pretty much it. Tscheuss! Marleigh
