PGP Public Key Server

This page is now generally obsolete. I am no longer actively involved with pgp keyserver development or operations. I'd like to thank the people who run keyservers (often a thankless task), all of the people who have supported me over the years, and the millions (!) of PGP users who have and continue to make good use of the keyservers. If you are interested in current development of the OpenPGP Public Key Server, it is now hosted at SourceForge.

The 0.9.4 release of the PGP Public Key Server is now available. This release is considered a beta, however it should be quite reliable by now. Please report any problems that you have.

The key server does not work under any version of Windows. If you are interested in porting it, please let me know.

Download the sources for the release. Read the README for directions on how to build and run the server. Get the detached signature. There is also a patch 2 which fixes problems found since the release, and a detached signature for that. The patches apply to the release, not the previous patch.

Visit the server

Read the Thesis. (This version has been edited slightly from what I turned in, and converted to HTML.)

If you have any problems, questions, or comments, please check out the pgp-keyserver-folk mailing list. The mailing list is the best forum for discussion and questions, but you can send me email if you still need to contact me. Note that I do not respond to requests to remove or disable keys, or most other keyserver-related email.
