Address Lookup servers
- Ahoy!
looks specifically for home pages and email addresses. It
leverages the many search engines available, but tries to
limit them only to personal pages and email addresses.
- A service that is more like a telephone directory, and can show
maps of the street address, when available (they usually do), is
American
Directory Assistance which has both individuals and
businesses. Since it's primarily phone book based, you'll
need to know who the phone is listed to (and you probably
can't find people without phones).
- The 411 server (spelled
Four11 to avoid problems with bad DNS implementations). This
seems to be the best and most comprehensive I've found so far.
- OKRA is a service from
University of California at Riverside that will help you find
email addresses. All it has is E-Mail addresses, full names
and occasionally "org" from Usenet header.
- The American Information
Network has a number of public databases to look people up
in as well as pointers to other lookup resources on the net.
- LookUP!
