The upgrade did not go smoothly. The 10.6 disc appeared to be performing an "Archive and Install," but it booted to a blue screen without a login prompt. Verbose booting (cmd-V at startup) and ping revealed that the system was running, but the sshd was not up. Thus, no remote access either.
The problem appeared to be an instance of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1545, but there was no ApplicationEnhancer.bundle file in /System/Library/SystemConfiguration or anywhere else on the system.
$ rsync -Eav /Volumes/Clean/System/ /Volumes/Original/System/but the old system still booted to a blue screen.
$ rsync -Eav --delete /Volumes/Clean/System/Library/Extensions/ /Volumes/Original/System/Library/Extensions/deleted any extensions on the original system that were not on the clean system. Three extensions were deleted this way: Soundflower.kext, GlowWorm.kext, and AmbrosiaAudioSupport.kext
