Welcome to my little space on the internet. I'm currently a graduate student in materials science and engineering at MIT and part of the Fitzgerald Group. My research interests include the growth and processing of photonic materials for fiber optic networks and display devices.I grew up in Bangalore, India and then went on to spend some time in Singapore. I am currently paying way too much to live in Cambridge .

 Research
Research Assistant, MIT  (Sep 2010 - Present)

My current project is to grow lattice mismatched semiconductors on silicon for LEDs and lasers. These semiconductors are mostly alloys of Aluminium gallium indium phosphide. The wavelengths of interest to me are those in the yellow and green  for which lattice matched LEDs and lasers need to have aluminium in the active region resulting in poor device reliability. Lattice mismatched InGaP not only improves reliability but also improves the possiblity of silicon intergration via SiGe buffer layers.

Transceiver Design, Finisar Corp. (2009-2010)

I worked on 100 Gigabit ethernet modules at the physical layer. Have a look at some of it here or here

Research Assistant, National University of Singapore  (2008-2009)

I was part of a group that electrospun titanium dioxide nanofibers for dye-sensitized solar cells. We made cells that were only 4% efficient but for the first time modeled electron transport through these nanofibers in solar cells. The solar cells were also novel in the sense that they were made with a prototype automated electrospinning system. To see these vine-like nanofibers go on over to this
