Jason Goodman's Photos: Les Houches

The black-and-white photos are out of focus because the photo lab screwed up. There's also some loss of dynamic range because I set the scanner up wrong. These problems may be fixed soon. Then again, they may not.
A Victorian bridge along the Seine in Paris, next to the Gare d'Lyon. Notre Dame cathedral is barely visible in the background.
The cafe in the TGV 2 train I took to Lyon. I liked the design.
The Arve river, running through Chamonix.
Clouds encroaching on a hill on the way into the Alps
Dawn over the Massif du Mont Blanc, on my first morning in Les Houches.
The Ecole de Physique in Les Houches. This is the main building, housing classrooms, library, and offices.
A farm we hiked through on the way to Col de Forclaz.
Fields and trees seen from the TGV
Fog-shrouded mountains seen as the sky cleared after a snowfall.
A lake with the Alps behind it. I'll look up the name of the lake someday, I promise.
Clouds below the mountaintops being highlit by the rising sun.
Mountains, trees, and moon seen during the afternoon from Col de Forclaz.
The view from the balcony of my room, after a snowfall.
The Gare d'Lyon station.
Aiguille Verte shrouded in fog.

Some of the people I met at Les Houches, seen atop Le Prairon, above the school. I'll put their names in later.

At a gondola station on the Plan de l'Aiguille, halfway to the top of Aiguille du Midi.
Rocky cliffs seen from the gondola going up Aiguille du Midi.
Skiers on the shoulder of Aiguille du Midi, preparing to ski down the Valee Blanche.
Mont Blanc. Enough said.
View from the top of Aiguille du Midi, down into Chamonix. The dark triangular shadow in the center of the frame is the shadow of the mountain I'm standing on.
