Anyone with information about possible sites please funnel it through these people so that we do not duplicate efforts and so that our approach is as uniform as possible.
I. Preliminary and Primary questions for site owners.
- Does the camp or site presently rent out their facilities? If not, would they consider it? What is your availability for the upcoming summer?
When would you be able to rent your space before labor day?
- We are presently looking for a site that can handle about 350-400 people for about 2 weeks (16 days?) or a site that can handle 600 for 7-9 days.
- What does handle mean?
- Dining-cooking facilities for that number (probably not negotiable) Seating for at least half the number (we would adjust meal times) If kitchen not large enough can we use paper? We are a vegetarian group(Important for some owners)
Septic- Large enough to handle at least the showering and washing needs. We can rely on portable toilets if necessary.
Sleeping-Cabin space for at least half the desired capacity. Enough usable space for tenting for at least half the capacity.
- Classes-Several large, medium and smallish, flat, smooth open floor areas for dancing and gathering.
- If more spaces are needed, can a flat temporary space be erected to hold classes (such as tents with wooden floors).
- Privacy-Does the camp have a waterfront area?
- If so, is it private, semi-private, very public (please explain that many of our members swim nude and that privacy for them and your neighbors is a concern)
What we are:
- A group of people interested in dance who have held a yearly summer camp for all ages for 17 years.
- There is a coordinating body of representatives from throughout New England and
New York. Campers attend from as far away as California and Europe.
- We hire professional chefs, teachers, waterfront director, healthcare staff and childcare workers. We have a professional camp director who has worked with us for over 8 years.
II. We are also looking for a place to purchase or buy into. Do you know of any sites, especially present or past camps for sale. (or rent if this site is not available).
