To the Site Search '97 Committee Members
From the Long-term Rental Committee
First however, an important message from Carolyn Fuller:
If you find a site
which looks promising contact Bill McCarthy (617)696-6697 or
wrmcfs@aol.com
As you know, time is of the essence. Please report all findings by
Monday, December 2nd to Carolyn at (617)576-1620 or
fuller@mit.edu so that
she can prepare an overall report assessing the situation for our Search
Committee meeting Dec. 7th. Many thanks and please get back ASAP.
Important Information
Many of you may have already made all of your phone calls to the various
camps. ( If the former is true, our current request still involves you). For
the camps which still remain, the Long-term Rental committee requests your
cooperation in assisting our goals. We recommend the following steps be taken
in conjuction with your present task.
- Step 1: Please inform David Kahn at (617)497-8041 or
KahnD@VOLPE62.DOT.GOV
- which camps were called already that were not asked the following questions.
This will be very important for us to know so we can formulate a list to
backtrack and cover all our options as a committee.
- Step 2: For the camps which still remain to be called
- we request you to ask
an additional four questions aside from the ones you are already asking for
Site Search '97. To aid you in remembering to include these questions please
add this document to your list when you are making the calls . Also, in
asking these questions we are not promising or negotiating. Rather,we are
merely gathering information about interest in the present moment.
- Are you interested in long-term rental with DNE which would be anything
over two to five years? Note: This is assuming you have already given a
profile of DNE being a community which is strong and has already sustained
itself for over seventeen years. In other words, we are going to be around
for years to come.
- Would it influence anything this year if you knew we were guaranteed to
come back next year or perhaps the next several years? For instance, the cost
of camp this year, the placement of this years dates, the guarantee of
particular time of the summer, etc.
- One advantage we have offered other camps is the possibility of capital
improvement in case larger dance spaces are needed, etc. If it was mutually
advantageous to both parties might there be any interest in collaberation
where we provide free labor and you provide materials?
- Please ask this question if it sounds like a really great camp but the
dates did not jive with them this year . If this is not available to DNE this
year, what about next year with long-term renting as an option?
- Step 3: We do not want to confuse the camp with too many contact people.
- You
are the one they are presently connected to . What we would like is for you
to report to David Kahn your results as well as including it in your Dec. 2nd
report to Carolyn. If any camps have shown a great interest then our
committee will take responsibility in furthering the discussion at a future
date. In other words, we do not advise if they show interest to leave David's
number. We prefer to gather from you and we will take it from there.
Thank you ever so much for your cooperation. It is said, many hands make
light work. Good luck in your search. W. Massachusetts people can contact
ALisa Starkweather (413)259-1671 as well and she will pass the information
along.
