Minutes from the Communication Subcommittee Nov 10, 1996

In answer to Neil's specific questions:

  1. What is the subcommittee charged with doing?
The Communication Committee has taken on the communication aspect of the project management of the CSC. The committee is charged with facilitating communication between and amongst a) the Core Group, the six subcommittees, and the CSC; b) the CSC and the DNE community.

We see our "mission" vis-a-vis the broader DNE community as two-fold: 1) we need to let the community know where the thinking of the CSC is taking us; 2) we need to hear your concerns, issues, and questions, and communicate them to the CSC.

This committee has agreed to create a library of information by making sure that meeting minutes are compiled, archived and made available to all. Part of our task is translating and transmitting information gleaned and presented by the subcommittees to the DNE community at large. We would like the flow of information to be as effective and as broad as possible. Avenues for discussion:

The Communication Committee will keep the community informed through the minutes taken at CSC meetings, through CSC reports given at Community Meetings, through article and announcements in Alphonse, through announcements made at Weekends and local dances, and through the online facilities available, such as e-mail for discussion and rapid delivery of meeting minutes, as well as a Web Page for archiving materials. Carolyn will "publish" the URL on the DNE_L list. Both the DNE Online Discussion List and the DNE Community Search Committee List are being used to disseminate information. They are open to all who wish to come online. (Please contact Carolyn Fuller for more information.)
In addition, we are committed to communicating one on one with folks who have questions or concerns, either in person or by phone.

  2. Who is on the subcommittee and who is managing the committee?
The Communication Committee consists of the following people, all of whom are online (or will be very soon):

  3. What is the timeline and when is the next meeting?
The Communication Committee meets online. Our timeline is the timeline of the CSC. By being present at the CSC meetings, taking the minutes at those meetings, getting the minutes out as quickly as possible, and archiving them, we attend to the tasks with which we are charged.

  4. Who will communicate results of the subcommittee to the Core Group?
As Core Group member, Anne Moss is accountable for communicating the actions and results of the Communication Committee to the other members of the Core Group.
