Emi Takase holds a B.S. in Sericultural Science from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management . She started her career with Chugai Pharmaceutical Company in Japan, where she managed a technical database on newly developed drugs. After working at MIT's Biology Department, as a teacher and Vice Principal at the Japanese Language School of Greater Boston, and as an independent consultant, she worked for a Boston consulting firm performing numerous Japanese scientific literature and patent analyses over a broad range of scientific and technological disciplines including biology, medicine, chemistry, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and materials science and engineering. From 1994 to1998 she worked at the MIT Libraries as Japanese Science and Technology Informtion Specialist, creating a World Wide Web homepage for Japanese Materials Science and Engineering. Currently she teaches 4th-year Japanese at the MIT Foreign Languages & Literatures.
