Introspection...

David Policar, 2000
Spoofing Interjections! from Schoolhouse Rock

When Reginald was home with flu,
The doctor knew just what to do
He cured the infection
With one small injection
While Reginald engaged in some introspection.

Wow, if I'd been born a century earlier, that would have killed me.
It really makes you think about how arbitrary life is.
I mean, it's not altogether fair,
That I survive when equally worthy predecessors would have died.

(Chorus:)
Introspection
Hides excitement and emotion
And is frequently abused for that very reason
By the over-analytical
And the easily depressed when their feelings are not so good.

Though Geraldine played hard to get,
Geraldo knew he'd woo her yet
He showed his affection
Despite her objections
And Geraldine engaged in some introspection.

Hm... why do I keep rejecting people who are interested in me?
Am I just acting out cultural programming, protecting my "reputation"?
Or do I really want to be left alone? And if so, why?

(Chorus)

(Second chorus:)
So whether you're happy
Or sad
Or frightened
Or mad
Or excited
Or glad
Some introspection keeps you from having to experience it!

The game was tied at seven all,
When Franklin found he had the ball
He made a connection
In the other direction
And nearby students continued their habitual introspection.

Everyone really seems to be getting into the game.
Why are we sitting out here, listening from a distance?
Maybe we should participate one of these days.

(Chorus)

(Second chorus)

Oh, never mind. You probably have better things to do than read this far anyway.
