Fuck, this president is pissing me off. Ignore the whole "back out of every important treaty and tell the world to fuck itself" thing. Ignore the "everyone goes home at 5pm" thing (dammit, I *want* my presidential advisors working overtime! They wanted the job, they should do the work!). Even ignore the "I'm going on a month-long vacation" thing. How about this: Stem cell research. On the one hand you have a buch of wackos who say that every blastocyst is a baby (even tho most aren't viable anymore and just get thrown away anyway). On the other you have a bunch of scientists who say, "er, gee, we could cure a bunch of really nasty diseases, you know". Even Nancy Reagan is for stem-cell research. Now, I think the right wingers are pretty whacked out but I can at least respect the ones who put their money where their mouths are and stick to the (misguided) principle. But Baby Bush? Nah, he makes a compromise that everyone hates, and misses the points made by each side. He says, you can research only on the existing cell lines - only 60. Not much genetic diversity, boy. The scientists are pissy, and the only ones doing research will be sekrit ninja megacorps. While at the same time all the wackos want to string him up for allowing experimentation on humans.
Way to make everyone happy, boyo. Nice principles, dickhead.

Where did anyone get the idea that tax breaks would jumpstart an economy? Where did anyone get the idea that recessions aren't necessary and important parts of an economic cycle? Where did anyone get the idea that a slowdown for a year or two (as this is forecasted to be) is bad? Sheesh.
