NOTE: STILL IN DRAFT

"In the beginning, it is always dark."
The words seem to string him with an unknown desire. He knew the answer even before he asked the question, but still asked because he needed to hear Her say it. Chadier raised his head and tried to look around again. Darkness. Everywhere he looked he saw darkness.
Mustering all the strength he could, he spoke "But why is it dark?"
But this time, she did not respond. Chadier felt the coldness of the dark envoloping him.
"Are you still there?" he cried out in fear.
"Of course I am still here. I could leave you, my little one." She waited for him to ask the next question.
"Why do you not tell me why?"
"My little one, what would you gain if I told you why?"
Chadier had no answer for her. Silence followed for what seemed like an eternity to Chadier.
"Hurry Chadier, the time is growing near for your departure... or should I saw arrival. What is it that you really want to know?"
Chadier had no idea what to say. "There is so little time, and so much I want to know." He struggled to find words, and then they all came at once. "Why do you tease me with this? How do I know what I know? Why do I have no memory of the past? Why must I begin on this journey? What is the point of it all?"
The goddess laughed litely to herself. "Many have asked these same questions before. Patience, little one. I am not teasing you. All of these answers will come in time. As for your past, there is no past. All you have seen in this short time is all that there has been for you. All that you know, you will forget soon enough. This journey, the journey itself is the reason for it. One day you will understand that too.
"Other ones, what other ones? And if I will forget all of this, why are you telling me all of this?"
"I am telling you all of this, because one day you will return here and you will remember. The other ones, why the ones you are going to join. The ones who you must experience and suffer and grow with."
"Why must I suffer? Why must anyone suffer?"
"Because without suffering there is no growth."
"Then why make us grow? Why will you not make us fully grown?"
"Because then you would not appreciate what you grow into. As great as my power is, I cannot give you that or create you with that."
Chadier was silent for a moment in awe that a goddess could not do everything. Then spoke up again. "You give me knowledge that I cannot take when I leave you. You tell me that I will return to you and then it will all be clear. Will I see you before then?"
"Wherever you travel, I will be there. If you see me, that is up to you."
Chadier quieted. His heart sunk and the excitement had left him. Somberly he ask "What do I do in the meantime?"
The goddess laughed again. "Grow, Chadier, grow."
Chadier felt himself drop into a warm pool.
The clouds rolled in from the south, bringing with them a forboding of Gryphon's cries.
